Class Name: Literature – Grade 1/2

    This week’s focus: Thailand

Continue to look at the many icons describing Thailand on Page 54- 55 on the Maps book. Which animals would you be excited to encounter? Which foods would you be inclined to eat? Which foods would you NOT be eating? Can you find the plate of snacks made of insects?

Which statues are you curious about? Can you find the capital city of Bangkok? Do you remember any of the names of countries that bordered Thailand?

This week we will be reading the book, The Lotus Seed. In advance of class, look up the Lotus flower, so you have a picture in your mind of what it looks like, or even try drawing it in your adventure journal ahead of our class.

Watch this video as the singers perform with a melody, harmony, bass and beat box!

Rhythm Review: Print out the Christmas Tree rhythm handout (found under RESOURCES in the music tab) page before you watch the video. Be sure to have pencil crayons or markers. As I say a rhythm, repeat it and then find it on your page. Colour the ornament that has that rhythm pattern.
