Class Name: Around the World with Pictures Books: Grade 2
This week’s focus: ChinaTo be completed this week:
If you have access to the book Anno’s China, explore this wordless wonder and point out many of the historical and geographical landmarks of China using the information at the back of the book.
In the Adventure Journal, otherwise known as the Composition and Sketch book, print the date and a sentence about an interesting fact or place you learned about. If you can draw a picture of it, for example, if you found the Great Wall of China fascinating, then sketch it.
Look at the page 48-49 in the Map book, is there an icon that you see that you would like to include on the tiny China you have in your journal? Add it now! Maybe you want to add the Himalayas or the Great Wall. For those of you that do not have the book Anno’s China, here are several other options that are listed in the curriculum that are about China.

Look up Zhang Zeduan’s mural Along the River During the Qingming Festival. This is a masterpiece for the 12th century depicting everyday life during the Song dynasty and gives a true sense of what the country was like around 900 years ago. ~ from the curriculum Around the World with Picture books
