This week’s focus: Short Story -Irony
To be completed this week:
1. For those of you who are still interested in sharing a symbol (for participation marks) that represents something about you, as discussed in the Zoom class on November 12, please come prepared.
2. Finish working on Chapter 5 of Art of Poetry, Sound and more Sound.
3. If you have not had a chance yet, contribute with quotes to the document supporting Huck’s Coming of Age. Make sure you follow the example I laid out. (Quote, then place it is found, one sentence giving a brief background about what has happened and your name)
4. Read the Short Story: The Gift of the Magi – O. Henry (100 Great Story Stories, page 511). This may be a familiar story to you. It is a great chance to discuss what irony is in literature and how the author uses it here.
During our class this coming Thursday December 3, will discuss what you have learned about this week, in the order listed above.
NOVEMBER’S ASSIGNMENT FOR SUBMISSION
As we have finished The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and you are in the final stages of writing your essay, please make sure you check the document for the marking criteria that was outlined earlier this week and updated. Reminder that the due date is coming quickly on December 4th.
