Literature 1–THE HOBBIT NO ZOOM THIS WEEK
This week’s focus: no zoom this week, it’s a read/write week
To be completed this week: NEXT CLASS IS WEEK AFTER THIS ONE
Enjoy reading the book. Please finish the book and work before the break in February.
PLEASE BRING A QUOTE TO CLASS THAT YOU ENJOY FROM THE BOOK.
This is a participation activity. IF you don’t know what to look for, use the literary devices from Grammar of Poetry to guide: look for pun, personification, simile, metaphor, synecdoche.
Keep highlighting and marking your work for evidence of Bilbo’s character.
EVIDENCE—is what someone says or does. It can be what Bilbo says or does or what another character says or does to/in response to Bilbo.
I am going to post some google docs (Copy link into a web browser)
1. The HOBBIT- a character study that you are working on. I will update mine. You could see what I am doing and how some chapters may have few or many ideas.
2. READING GEMS—I don’t know what else to call this but I will “commonplace” on google documents so you can see what I am enjoying along the way. This is merely for your perusal, there is NO REQUIRED work from this. I might add some musings too.
3. OUTLINE for final paragraphs. I will create some sample formats for how to organize your thoughts for the final paragraph assignment.
ENRICHMENT – Extra resources for children and families who desire more
THIS MONTH’S ASSIGNMENT FOR SUBMISSION:
Character chart completed (at least one quote per chapter if possible)
