Class Name Well Ordered Language 3 A/B
This week’s focus: WOL 3B Chapter 5 – Verbals – Gerunds
In preparation for Schole support class: This lesson is about Verbals—this week it’s Gerunds. Gerunds function as nouns.
Last class we discussed participles which are forms of verbs that can function as adjective. When a verb functions as another part of speech it is called a verbal
There are three kinds of verbals: participles, gerunds, and infinitives which can function as nouns, adjectives, or adverbs.
When you see a word that ends in -ING you probably recognize it as a verb. A gerund is a verbal that is used as a noun, always ending in the letters ing.
For example: “Reading makes a wise student, though writing makes a wiser thinker.”
