Consider reading the story of Squanto in this short book.
Squanto, Friend of the Pilgrims
To work over two weeks and be completed by our next zoom class -Wednesday, May 3rd:
Choose either a confirmation or refutation argument based on Squanto.
Read the story at least two times. Practice contemplation: what do you notice? Ask yourself the questions of confirmations – what is probable? What is proper? What is believable? What is clear? Ask the same questions for the perspective of a refutation.
Choose which position you would like to “argue” – will it be a confirmation? Or a refutation?
Narrate the story to someone. Tell the story back with confidence and a good speaking voice – practice elocution!
Write paragraph #1 and #3 for the story on Squanto.
Edit using the checklist.
Practice reading your Squanto paragraphs and come prepared to read them at our next class in May.
You do not have to submit them for marking – I look forward to hearing them.
Complete the checklist for Refutation or Confirmation.
